Testimonials

"My time at Salzburg Global was incredibly special. Interacting with Fellows from diverse backgrounds and working alongside such kind and dedicated colleagues made it a truly unforgettable experience. The inspiring conversations, supportive environment, and genuine sense of community made it a unique experience that I will always look back on fondly."

Youngju Jang
Korea Foundation - Salzburg Global Program Intern (March - June 2025)

"So much of the work at Salzburg Global is rewarding, but one aspect that I found particularly rewarding was getting to work hard on the preparation for programs with colleagues on the Program Team and then getting to see the fruits of our labor when the program actually took place. I felt that this style of working created bonds between the Program Team, which was often a highlight in any given program and made the hard parts of the work more fun and manageable.

"I always felt lucky to be able to participate in very unique sessions and discussions, and it contributed to my motivation in the preparation work, for I knew what I was working towards. The joy of working on programs at Salzburg Global was that no matter what the topic was they all proved to be incredibly interesting and beneficial to my understanding of the world and specific issues. Another aspect that I truly loved was getting to know Fellows during coffee breaks, over meals, and in free time. The people really are what make Salzburg Global so special and being able to spend so much time with Fellows has introduced me to amazing people and exciting ideas and projects. The program work was especially fulfilling for me.

"Lastly, Salzburg Global would be nowhere without the exceptional staff assembled here. I always felt so welcomed and like a true part of the team, a feat I think is not easy and shows the way staff go out of their way to include and engage the interns. Working across pillars allowed me to work with as many people in the organization as possible, which I really loved. I would encourage new interns to go outside of their comfort zones and work on programs that they might not initially pick, because the programs can definitely surprise you, and every time I did this I learned something valuable and was able to work with other team members. The way that my internship combined learning useful skills, working with great people, participating in interesting programs, and meeting Fellows made it an incredibly rewarding experience and one that I will miss, but I will take what I learned here out into the world with me and in my future positions."

Amelia Levitt-Smith

"Salzburg Global is a place of renewal and rebirth, not just for the unique history in the soil it lies upon, but for the opportunity it allows its Fellows and staff to reimagine society. My short immersion into Salzburg was full of compelling and complicated conversation, and as a Communications Intern, it was my duty to listen deeply to the messages of the Fellows.

"Put in the incredibly fortunate position to engage in discussion with those [whom] I could not have imagined meeting, I aimed to thread the experiences, ideas, and stories of all the Fellows into a new message, a new conversation.

"This experience was beyond my expectations, and I am forever indebted to the people, both Fellows and staff of Salzburg Global, with [whom] I was able to create new conversations. Auf Wiedersehen, Salzburg. It's not a goodbye, but a see you later."

We are indeed lucky enough to work here; on top of that, however, it's truly the people and their work that make this place [the] brightest. Salzburg Global gave me many opportunities where I became the better version of myself, and most of them were through interactions with Fellows, colleagues, and my Intern friends. Florian Dirmayer
Salzburg Impact Fellow (November 2022 - February 2023)

"Two aspects of my Communications Impact Fellowship made it truly stand out as an internship experience. First was the responsibility entrusted to me in my work, whereby I could exercise independence of thought to carry out my tasks, which is not always afforded to Interns. Second was the opportunity to see the world - and I don’t just mean being situated in central Europe, for the world also comes to Salzburg through the diversity of the other Impact Fellows and the Fellows who attend programs. For these reasons (and doing all of this next to an actual palace of course!), Salzburg Global Seminar is a genuinely unique environment to work in that guarantees an unforgettable three months."

Douglas Leung

"My Communications Impact Fellowship at Salzburg Global was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and my time in Salzburg allowed me the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of human emotion.

What an absolutely invaluable opportunity to network, to experience, to learn, and to have access to so much. I am transformed after three months, which allowed me to learn so much about the world and so much about myself. It is a chance to live in an absolutely beautiful setting and to work alongside wonderful, inspiring people who share a vision for a more just world.

As a girl from a part of the world very far away from Austria, I left the Schloss reenergized and so hopeful about so much as I step into what lies ahead for me. My experience served as a reminder that, even during the toughest times, participating in such an inspiring group and surrounding yourself with incredible people makes all the difference. Being granted the opportunity to participate in Salzburg Global and aid in its mission is one of the greatest honors of my life, even if we were restricted to virtual connection."

“My time at Salzburg as the Project Intern for the Healthier Societies and Health Care Innovations team has been both professionally valuable and personally fulfilling. My activities required I work alongside the program director to brainstorm ideas and complete organizational duties for the Sciana Network. Throughout my intern tasks, I gained insight into the functions of a multistakeholder organization, partook in planning events and day-to-day management, and acquired an appreciation for creatively designing initiatives to engage and support our members.

Despite being a virtual intern, I was still able to foster a meaningful connection with other interns and develop an incredible mentor-mentee relationship with my “boss.” (Thank you for everything, Mary Helen!)
