The Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS), established in 1974, has played a significant role in South Korea's economic growth and democratization, contributing to the development of its human capital and helping to elevate the country to a leading global position. As it nears its semicentennial anniversary, KFAS' role in shaping Korea's progress mirrors the country's transformative journey. However, numerous global challenges and uncertainties, ranging from geopolitical tensions and pandemic impacts to demographic shifts and climate change, have cast doubt on the future. These global events have introduced a new level of uncertainty, calling into question the value, roles, boundaries, and forms of existing connections across various dimensions, such as individuals, families, states, generations, technologies, and nature. In response, KFAS proposes the KFAS-Salzburg Global Leadership Initiative, a global knowledge platform aimed at fostering mutual learning and exchanges.
